We started Lean North East to develop an open and friendly community for anyone interested in learning more about Lean Startup* be they entrepreneurs, developers, biz dev, marketing or other. We hope to run regular meetups and events, inviting individuals and organisations to learn and share their knowledge and experience of Lean Startup and associated disciplines such as customer development and business model generation.

Our first meetup was at The Town Wall in September 2012 with the good folk from Ignite100 and Leancamp Founder Sal Virani in attendance.

Our first event was a sell out with people packing in to the Post Office venue in Pink Lane to hear Rob Fitzpatrick from Founder Centric talk about Lean Startup Essentials.

The event was kindly sponsored by Ignite100 and Sunderland Software City.

If you missed it, watch the videos here.

Our second meetup is due to take place at La Tasca, Grey Street on Monday 3rd December with drinks, tapas and lean startup chat from 6pm – all welcome, see you there! Find out more.

Our second event will take place in conjunction with NCFE and Newcastle University Business School on Monday 14th January, 2013. NCFE, an education awarding body based in Newcastle, will talk about how they are applying Lean Startup principles to product development, innovation and company growth in an organisation with more than 100 members of staff. Find out more.

In the future…

We hope to bring practical Lean Startup workshops to the North East.

We hope to bring more Lean Startup speakers to the North East to share their knowledge and experience.

We hope to work with other individuals and organisations in the North East to help make this happen.

Get Involved!

Lean North East was started by Emma Robinson and Justin Souter but it’s all about community so we hope you’ll join us. If you’d like to get involved, run an event, bring a certain speaker or workshop to the North East or have any other ideas – we’d love to hear from you.
